♡ Raspberry Truffle | Cottage Abaya ♡

Another review on a different color of this style had mentioned a similar complaint about the fabric not draping nicely because it’s thick… wish I would have listened. My problem is not so much with the drape but the fact that in addition to being very thick and heavy, it’s so rough and doesn’t feel nice on the skin :( doesn’t feel soft at all like other cotton garments I have.

Another complaint others have made which I agree with is that the wrists are tight to the point of being uncomfortable, especially considering the roughness of the fabric. My wrists are about 6 in around where the wrist elastic is, so if your wrists are any thicker I would imagine the elastic would be digging in.

I also wasn’t a fan of the free sizing in general, it felt like there was way too much fabric for me, more than I felt was needed for it to be loose and modest, and it just added extra weight. Perhaps I’m just not the target consumer base for VeiledHayati in this regard. For reference I wear a size M/L in tops and S/M in bottoms, and am 5’ 4”. I usually get 56 length in abayas but got a 54 in this because I didn’t want it to be dragging on the ground considering how loose it is. It hangs right above the floor for me without shoes, so I probably could have gone for a 56 for it to cover more of my feet with shoes.

All I'm gonna say is POCKETS!!! these abayas are by far my favourite! The material is thick enough so you don't have to worry about layering or static! It has pockets (which girly doesn't love pockets 🤭) and the colours are exceptional.

I really really love these abayas, I currently have 5 of them alhamdulillah. However I would mention that as someone who generally wears 2x/3x, I can’t say this is very plus size friendly. The bottom portion is definitely roomy bc of the ruffles and layers, however the top is not. I bought 58 in all 5 of the abayas, however it feels tight in the bust area and also in the sleeves where the balloon sleeve is added, the circumference could be wider for comfort. It feels like it cuts off my circulation almost 😅 but I love them so much I still wear it 😂🥲I would like to suggest that to better cater to plus size, if you can come up with a different style closure for the top instead of a zipper , or to add an extra inch or 2 in the bust and sleeve width when increasing the sizes. I see that (if I’m not mistaken) the 60 and 58 are basically the same size in inches across, and I wanted to try to buy the 60 to see if going up would fit, but I’m wary of buying another one even as a tester when they’re still the same size in the top area.

Really lovely and full coverage like their previous abayas but it's cotton! So it's really helpful for someone like me because I have a condition that causes heat sensitivity ♥️ Allahumma Barik I'm excited for future releases
